Deborah Harper, President of Psychjourney interviews Mr. Tom Rath, author of Vital Friends: The People You Can't Afford to Live Without
Mr. Tom Rath
Tom Rath is co-author of the #1 New York Times bestseller How Full Is Your Bucket? -- a book that draws on decades of research to explore the differences between leading an enthusiastic life and a miserable one.
Rath has been with the Gallup Organization for 12 years and currently leads Gallup's workplace and leadership consulting worldwide. He also serves on the board of VHL.org, an organization dedicated to cancer research and patient support. Rath earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Michigan. He is currently pursuing graduate degrees at John Hopkins University and the University of Pennsylvania. He lives in Washington, D.C. Visit his website.

Although I haven't read "How Full Is Your Bucket," it would be worthy of note to see how the authors would address the many addictions that are affecting people in our society.
Surely the authors would agree that addictions fall into a “miserable" rather than an "enthusiastic" lifestyle. It would be interesting, however to hear their take on why and how so many people are becoming addicted to “typical” addictions such as drugs, alcohol, and sex as well as to more recent dependencies such as addiction to the Internet, blogging, MySpace, and to Internet-based activities such as gambling, porn, and video games.
Are our lives so devoid of meaning that we get hooked on the first thing that seemingly fills this void? If this is even partially on target, what a sad commentary on our “enlightened” society.
